Climate News by Dave Cohen

The world may be heating up but so are plans to persuade governments to act and stop the climate emergency when they meet in Glasgow for COP 26.

There's lots happening locally and nationally - but watch out for the big event at Finsbury Park on Sunday 31st October 1-4pm. And we've love for you to get involved. This is being organised by the Haringey Climate Forum to bring together a wide section of Haringey people to understand how the COP26 pledges are insufficient and send their views to the COP delegates – all in a positive atmosphere celebrating the positives of the countries of the world.

Do you know which countries are doing the most to combat climate change? The answers may surprise you - Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea and India are at or near the top.

Is there a country you have links with outside of the UK? Have a look here https://haringeyclimateforum.org/celebrate-culture-understand-shortfalls/ which encourages people to follow steps to find out about what different countries are doing. Come along with friends and family and celebrate the positives in the fight against climate change. Should be a great day out. More news to follow.

Last week Eco Synagogue held an excellent event at the Jewish Museum - packed with really helpful information about what we can do to bring carbon emissions down to zero. You can watch it in full here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxds0MLenoI

Finally
...don't forget this Sunday 17 October 11am-1pm your chance to join the monthly workday organised by Crouch End Open Space (CREOS). https://crouchendopenspace.org/
CREOS maintains and cares for Queen's Wood, encouraging biodiversity and acting as a vital contribution to Haringey's open space. Meet in the meadow behind the football pitch and stick around for a free picnic lunch.
